SCIMITAR

SCIMITAR is a 30 pound bot built for the unique combat
environment of Robot Battles at Dragon*Con. It is based on
Fisher-Price Powerwheels components and very simple
construction. See the early construction picture attached.

-The frame is made of 3/4" X .06" wall square steel tubing of
my fabrication.
-The front wheels are from a small electric riding toy that I
salvaged from the dump while dropping off some old furniture.
-The drive is made of two stock Johnson 550 sized motors at
12V powering Powerwheels gearboxes @ 112:1 to 10.5"
plastic wheels with 2" Sorbothane strips Gorilla-glued to the
OD for improved traction.
-The weapon is driven by two Mabuchi RS-775 motors
through Powerwheels gearboxes @ 129:1.
-Control is via an Airtronics PCM radio at 75MHz with two
fanless Victor 883s for the drive motors and a single
fan-equipped Victor 883 for the weapon.
