STONE AXE
STONE AXE was a 60 pound robot built for one competition.
The 2003 Robot Battles in Atlanta was to be the last for the 60
pound class because of safety concerns due to the escalating
capabilities of bots in general.  STONE AXE was built with NPC
64038 wheel chair motors and a 12V Hawker Genesis SLA
battery.  Control was via Victor 883s with an Ohmark mixer and
Airtronics PCM Radio.  These are very large motors for a 60
pound robot and this does not leave much room for armor.  For
this reason, this bot would not be suitable for arena competition.

STONE AXE placed 2nd in class at the 2003 Robot Battles in
Atlanta and went on to win the last 60 pound Battle Royale.  I
added a second Black laquered plaque with inlaid mother of
pearl to my collection.

STONE AXE was used during Halloween 2003 to chase kids
around the yard.  I mounted a 4" caster under the front end so
that it would be driveable in the grass.  I wrapped it in black
cloth and mounted a chrome skull on the front end with a strobe
light inside.  It was pretty scary when chasing kids in the dark.

This bot has been retired.
