The Gallery
County Hall, Market Street, Aberaeron, SA46 OAT
The Celf Chapman Arts Gallery and website have been set up as a place to enjoy and be part of the Chapman artists' family from West Wales. The gallery, an Evolving Creative Space, brings together a dynamic collection of visual art, work from the remaining Chapman family. Natalie, Harriett, and Lola.
George Chapman 1908 - 1996 and Kate Chapman 195 – 2003? were both painters and lived a bohemian lifestyle, moving to the village of Aberaeron permanently in 1962. The creative lifestyle and talent have been handed down, and the individual artistic journeys and the creative strength have continued to flow through the family. The next generation continues the tradition, the talent, the artistic and social legacies of a family bound together by creativity, celebrating both individuality and shared creativity.
The three remaining family members—Aunt Harriett and her nieces, Natalie and Lola curate their own exhibitions within the gallery space. Their paintings reveal distinct artistic identities while also reflecting the influence, inspiration and creative connections inherited from previous generations of the family. Together, their work creates a meaningful dialogue between past and present, highlighting the continuing evolution of the Chapman family’s artistic legacy.
The website with a shop creates a place to be able to purchase original work, prints, ceramics, and textiles, all made by the family.
